Spontaneity vs Convention

As a business leader, you must often find yourself struggling to schedule meetings and appointments with our colleagues and clients. Maybe, you're afraid to meet except over a meal, and as a result, two busy people who need to see each other tomorrow can't get together for the next three weeks. This is an inefficient use of time and resources, and it hinders our ability to accomplish your goals.

My solution is simple: don't make lunch dates. Instead, when you want to see someone, call them and ask if you can go over now, later today, or tomorrow morning. By embracing spontaneity and flexibility, we can eliminate the unnecessary delays and scheduling conflicts that often plague our workday.

I also encourage you to invite people who want to see you to do likewise. By fostering a culture of openness and accessibility, we can create a more collaborative and productive work environment. And think of all you can accomplish between twelve and two, while your colleagues are stuck in traffic and stretching their weight belts.

As leaders, we must be willing to adapt and evolve with the changing demands of our work. By embracing spontaneity and flexibility, we can increase our efficiency and effectiveness, while also fostering stronger relationships with our colleagues and clients. So let's break free from the constraints of traditional business meals and embrace the power of spontaneity.
